Green Bay, Wis. – The All-Star teams for the upcoming 2010 All-Star game were announced on Monday, July 12. The game will be held at Carson Park, in Eau Claire, Wisconsin. The game will feature four of your very own Green Bay Bullfrogs. Making the South Division All-Star team from the Bullfrogs were Brad Zapenas (Boston College), Scott Schebler (Wichita State), Riley Tincher (UW-Whitewater) and Brad Schreiber (Purdue).
Zapenas was selected as one of two shortstops on the team. He is currently hitting .282 for the Bullfrogs while appearing in 34 games. Zapenas has collected 35 hits, with two doubles and two triples. He has driven in 18 runs and has four stolen bases on the year.
On being named an All-Star Zapenas said, “Being selected to the Northwoods League All-Star team is a great honor and I am very flattered to have made it. Our entire lineup is filled with All-Star caliber players, and I would never have received this tremendous honor without playing with the high level players we have and also being pushed by my teammate’s everyday to always perform at my best.”
Schebler was selected as an outfield to the team. He leads the Bullfrogs and is tied for the lead in homeruns with six on the season. He is currently batting .283. Schebler ranks in the top five for RBI on the season with 26. He has collected 41 hits and has appeared in every game this year for the Bullfrogs.
“Being selected to the Northwoods League All-Star game is a great honor. Playing alongside all the Bullfrogs has also been quite an honor for me. All the guys here are very talented and it has been a blast playing so far,” stated Scott Schebler.
Tincher made the All-Star team as a pitcher. He has started six games on the season and holds a record of 4-2. He has posted an ERA of 3.89 in 39.1 innings pitched. Tincher has recorded 24 strikes outs and has only walked four batters all year.
On being an All-Star Tincher said, “I am very grateful to be named to the 2010 All-Star team. To be considered one of the top players in a prestigious league, such as the Northwoods League, is such an honor. I’ll do my best to represent this great organization in the great city of Green Bay.”
Schreiber has seen action as a pitcher and hitter this year for the Bullfrogs and made the All-Star team as a pitcher. Schreiber has a record of 0-4 while posting an ERA of 3.94. He has made 8 appearances, six starts for the Bullfrogs. Schreiber has registered 33 strike outs in 32 innings pitched. He has walked six batters on the season.
Schreiber stated, after being named an All-Star; “This is an awesome experience. I am grateful to have the opportunity to play in the All-Star game. I plan to represent my team and the Northwoods League in a classy manner.”
