Green Bay, Wis. – The Green Bay Bullfrogs (3-5, 21-21) were playing the Wisconsin Woodchucks (7-2, 25-19) for the second straight game but the result was the same. The Frogs lost the game by a score of 5-4.

The Frogs looked to have an early jump on the Woodchucks on the bottom of the second inning. Troy Scott (Washington) drove an offering to the right field wall, but Brandon King (Oral Roberts) made a leaping catch at the wall to retire Scott. With two outs in the inning, the next two Bullfrogs hitters walked. Jim Pipolo (St. Xavier) came up to bat and lined out to second to retire the threat.

Green Bay broke onto the scoreboard in the bottom of the third inning. Collin Kuhn (Arkansas) doubled to left field for the first Bullfrogs hit of the night. Brad Zapenas (Boston College) singled up the middle putting runners on the corners. Tom Barry (San Francisco) singled, scoring Kuhn and putting the Frogs up 1-0. Schebler grounded out to the pitcher, but was enough to score Zapenas putting the Bullfrogs up 2-0.

The Woodchucks answered back in the top of the fourth inning. Wisconsin had two runners for Grant Dozar (LSU). He grounded out but the Woodchucks scored one to cut the Bullfrogs lead in half. With the score at 2-1 Frogs, Sharif Othman (Cal Baptist) singled to tie the game at 2-2. Robbie de la Cruz (Cal St. Dominguez) singled to load the bases. The Frogs made a pitching change and brought in all-star Brad Schreiber (Purdue) to come in and get out of the jam. After the pitching change, the Woodchucks scored three more runs to extend their lead to 5-2.

The Bullfrogs added one run to their score in the bottom of the fourth. Pipolo walked and was driven in by Joe Betcher (Illinois-Chicago) putting the Frogs down 5-3.

Green Bay cut the lead to one in the bottom of the sixth inning. Troy Scott singled to lead off the inning for the Frogs. Scott advanced to third on a single to right by Jared Andreoli (Western Kentucky). Scott scored on a throwing error by King to put the Frogs down 5-4.

Entering the ninth inning, the Bullfrogs were still down one run. Pipolo started the inning off by being hit in the head to put the tying run on base. With one out, Kuhn came up to bat and was hit by a pitch to put the winning run on first base. Zapenas popped out to second for the second out of the inning, and Barry popped out to first to end the game.

Mike Thomas (Rider) picked up the loss for the Bullfrogs tossing three and a third innings allowing six hits and four earned runs. The Bullfrogs had seven players pick up one hit apiece.

The Bullfrogs are on the road tomorrow, when they travel to Wausau to take on the Woodchucks in the final game before the all-star break. The Frogs will open up with a home game on Thursday, July 22 when the La Crosse Loggers make their first trip to Green Bay. First pitch is scheduled for 7:05 P.M.
